MIRACLE JEANS DAY

kvia jeans dayEL PASO, TX – (August 16, 2010) On September 15, employees of companies across the nation will don jeans and tennis shoes for “Miracle Jeans Day” to help provide medical care, research and education for critically ill and injured kids at Children’s Miracle Network-affiliated hospital. All funds raised in El Paso will benefit pediatric patients at University Medical Center of El Paso, the area’s designated Children's Miracle Network hospital.

Last year, a number of local companies participated in the event, including Capital Bank, Bank of the West, Food City, and Strickler and Prieto LLP. Human Resources Coordinator Paige Mandell organized the effort at KVIA-TV, with more than 25 employees participating. They plan to take part again this year.

“Everyone was eager to come to work dressed in jeans,” Mandell said. “At the end of the day, we all gathered in the studio for a photograph. It was a lot of fun.”

With company approval, employees participating in the event contribute $5 to wear jeans to work and an additional $5 to wear tennis shoes, if they choose. “Miracle Jeans Day” is a lighthearted event to raise funds for a serious cause—children with life-threatening illnesses and injuries.

Posters, e-mail blasts, paycheck stuffers and other materials to help promote the event are available through University Medical Center Foundation. For more information about Miracle Jeans Day or Children’s Miracle Network, call 521-7229 ext. 3077.
