A pale scar resting on the center of her neck is a grave reminder to Estela Casas of how frail life can be. Beloved news anchor, Estela Casas was diagnosed with Minimally Invasive Follicular Carcinoma, or as Casas describes it “pretty word for Cancer,” earlier this year.
“I freaked, I cried, I sobbed,” recalled Casas.
Last summer, the once aspired and trained singer, noticed a few small changes with her voice while singing along to Carry Underwood in her car, and also her neck became very sensitive to mild temperature changes.
“I brushed it all aside until one night in August I was applying my make up and that’s how I found a lump and freaked,” said Casas. “That’s when I realized something was going on.”...

Philo Wilke Partnership, a healthcare design architecture firm, has started programming and design to renovate the four-story Annex building for University Medical Center (UMC) on their main campus.
Because the building is currently occupied, PhiloWilke is also challenged with phasing the project so people can move and/or relocate. “Approximately 80% of our work involves renovation in occupied facilities, so we take great care to minimize disruption to the patients and staff,” said Dana Wilke, Managing Partner of PhiloWilke. “The age of the building also dictates that we redesign the mechanical and electrical systems, deal with potential asbestos abatement requirements and increase handicap accessibility.”

| Miracle Jeans Day |

EL PASO, TX – (August 16, 2010) On September 15, employees of companies across the nation will don jeans and tennis shoes for “Miracle Jeans Day” to help provide medical care, research and education for critically ill and injured kids at Children’s Miracle Network-affiliated hospital. All funds raised in El Paso will benefit pediatric patients at University Medical Center of El Paso, the area’s designated Children's Miracle Network hospital.
Last year, a number of local companies participated in the event, including Capital Bank, Bank of the West, Food City, and Strickler and Prieto LLP. Human Resources Coordinator Paige Mandell organized the effort at KVIA-TV, with more than 25 employees participating. They plan to take part again this year.

General Bromberg began his command on January 21, 2008 and will leave his command on July 9th, 2010.
